KISS

Why on earth would a market researcher be writing about a Kiss? Well, fortunately I’m not…. since it is not yet Valentine’s Day nor the theme of my blog to writing about kissing, but I’m still enamored by the fact KISS is the acronym for something that sprung into my mind this morning completely unrelated. I’ll get there in a second, I promise.

It came upon me thinking about the many doctors I interview, who we lest not forget are (hopefully) treating patients all day, as opposed to the here or there market research interview, which means using their brainpower to the upmost extent (as we as patients all hope, even if not true), and that along with possibly having a significant other, kids, pets, or other responsibilities are busy. No more busy than non-doctors; I’m not claiming that. Everyone is busy, even those who needed not be!

But busy and possibly more targeted to consume a lot of medical information, just more and more and more. I heard a doctor say he gets hundreds of emails a day about medical related information, products, etc. and I believe him! As a market researcher, I follow a lot too and to say the least it is overwhelming! Downright unequivocally consuming if you want to try to stay abreast of all.

And who has the time? But at the same time (no pun intended), you want to stay abreast of it all. So, I thought, wouldn’t it be fabulous if there was one place that could just distill it all down. And that’s when this phrase floated into my head, yes, just Keep It Simple, Stupid. Of course, my undying curiosity had me wonder, where did that phrase come from. I’ve heard it many a time over the years but never wondered who, what or why. So, a quick Googly- Goo brings up immediately the acronym, KISS. Well, that and a much fuller explanation of Kelly Johnson, spy planes, the US Navy and basically that it is all in reference to design. If it intrigues you, you can certainly read more about it here.

Needless to say, I’m not here to call anyone ‘stupid,’ in fact, that word choice might feel a little off but at the same time we all get it. So in a sense, it serves it’s own purpose.

I’m on a mission to KISS medical information for not only myself, but for others here on said blog (in the meantime). Hopefully, it will be as helpful to you as it will be for me. And in all life matters, it’s not a bad idea to KISS.
